The R132M is a soft-shell trouser aimed at winter trekkers who need that extra bit of warmth and protection. The Tech Performance fabric is a three-layer bonded fabric consisting of a polyester/elastane outer, a waterproof, windproof and breathable membrane mid-layer, and a compressed ripstop microfleece inner to keep you warm and dry. The material has a two-way stretch which, coupled with the loose fit, is going to be comfortable and un-restrictive when walking and transversing rough terrain.
There are two zip-up front pockets that are mesh lined and could also be used for ventilation, and there’s a zipped thigh pocket for small items. The aforementioned loose fit is enhanced by an elasticated waistband so the trousers don’t dig in, and there are belt loops in case you need to improve the fit. There is a small amount of articulation in the knees for increased mobility and the ankles have zips and a nylon liner to help you get the trousers on or off over shoes or boots.
These pants have an excellent price tag for something so technical. The construction looks strong enough to endure a reasonable amount of punishment on the trails and hills and there’s a women’s version too.
Ideal for winter trekking and excellent value for money.
