We checked out the women’s Regatta Hyper Trail Low hiking shoes to see how suitable for hiking they really are, and whether they’re the hiking shoes for you…

The women’s Regatta Hyper Trail Low is the lightest and most flexible shoe we have on test. It’s water-resistant, via a technology called Hydropel, and breathable, with a mostly mesh upper. There’s an abrasion-resistant toe bumper, and the lightweight sole is made from carbon rubber with a multi-directional cleat pattern for grip and fending off mud.

Regatta suggests that the shoe can be used for hill running, but I’d be nervous about wearing something this light and flexible to run in. But it is very comfy, and would be fine for easier hikes where you’re not carrying too much stuff. It would also be good for general travel, particularly as it’s nice and light (about 462g per pair, size six), making it a good one to stick in a case or rucksack when you want to keep the weight down. I like the hiking boot style final hook for the laces, and how the shoe looks: as well as the blue pictured here, it comes in yellow or black.

Women’s Regatta Hyper Trail Low Verdict

Good for casual use and light trails, and a versatile shoe that you may wish to use for travelling and keeping the weight down in your pack. A flexible shoe that can be used for many adventures but may not stand up to too much wear and tear.
