The Chill Out Stretch Bib is a three-layer skiing pant from Salomon with a relaxed fit and fully taped seams. The salopettes use Salomon’s ClimaPRO waterproof fabric, as well as its own insulating layer ActiLOFT. I’ve been using a pair of Salomon ski trousers for the last five years and I can vouch for the company’s quality when it comes to making functional yet comfortable ski trousers.

The Chill Out Stretch Bib trousers are amazing to wear. The insulating layer acts as a soft padding and the lining layer is soft and comfortable against the skin. Warmth wise, the Stretch Bib excels. I can see myself comfortably skiing in cold conditions in these without a thermal base layer on, or in extremely low temperatures if I had a pair of thermals on.

The bib’s detachable so you can take it off if you don’t like it, but when on it does a great job of covering up your back and stopping snow getting in your pants. The ankles have been reinforced with a hard-wearing fabric for added durability, and the pocket entrances are well protected by storm flaps. The two hand-warmer pockets feature a soft fleece lining which is great if you find yourself standing around in the cold.

Overall, the Salomon Chill Out Stretch Bib salopettes are a great buy, and when you consider they’re £100 cheaper than the most expensive in this test, they almost seem a bargain.
