The Blue Kazoo is a firm favourite in The North Face’s range, with outdoor enthusiasts choosing the bag because of its warmth to weight ratio, small pack size and the amount of comfort it provides. There’s no doubt it’s a great sleeping bag, but £250 is a lot of money. Is it worth it?

The Blue Kazoo uses a quality 650 fill Hungarian goose down for insulation (Hungarian down has a great reputation in the world of insulating fills) and the bag has an impressive loft once it’s been allowed time to air out. The down insulates exceptionally well and it’s distributed evenly throughout the bag, with the box-wall baffles stopping the fill from migrating, which would lead to cold spots.

To further prevent cold spots, areas likely to be in contact with the ground (feet, bum and shoulders) have been reinforced with compression resistant Climashield Prism thermal pads for added insulation – a great touch.

You get all the other features you’d expect from a quality sleeping bag too, including internal pockets and a two-way main zip, with the zip pulls glowing in the dark so you can adjust them easily.

The North Face Blue Kazoo Verdict

It’s an excellent bag that packs down small, has minimal cold spots and, if you look after it, will last a long time.
