Watch: Appalachian Trail: the 3.5 minute thru-hike

Author: Bryn Davies

When it comes to long distance trails the US has some show stoppers. The big three being the Appalachian Trail, the Continental Divide Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail. We’ve featured each of these in Adventure Travel magazine and they all got glowing write ups from people who have managed to hike them.

While we’d love to walk these mammoth trails, unfortunately it’s quite hard to get the required six months-ish off work and so we love videos like this.

In Appalachian Trail: the 3.5 minute thru-hike we follow in the footsteps of Chris Gallaway as he completes a thru-hike of the 2,200 mile Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Main in February – September of 2013. As the title suggests, it’s three and a half minutes long and it covers the whole trek, providing a great yet brief glimpse into life on the trail and, like so many great adventure videos out there, made me want to pack it all in and do what he’s doing!

It might not be the real thing, but it’s a great little motivator for those who want to get out and trek. Check it out:
