Since 2004, the folks at Rat Race have been laying on exciting adventure and sporting events designed to get you outdoors, challenge your limits and help you explore the country that you call home (they’ve also just launched a series of awesome overseas adventures).
The company’s first event was the Mighty Deerstalker, an obstacle race and off-road night run that sees competitors take on rivers, mud pits, scrambles, dense forests and a mountain or two in beautiful Scottish surroundings.
Since that first event, many more have been added to the roster, including the Coast to Coast, an adventure race that’s made up of running, cycling and kayaking in Scotland, and The Crossing, a mountain bike expedition from Whitehaven to Scarborough via the Lake District Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors.
Each and every event promises to test you physically and mentally, all the while being fun, enjoyable and incredibly rewarding. At each event competitors will receive a finisher’s medal, technical t-shirt, professional photos and an after party that will live long in the memory.
Many of the events combine different disciplines, from cycling and running to kayaking and hiking, while there is often an obstacle or two thrown in for good measure.
Beyond the company’s UK events, Rat Race has recently launched a new series of overseas challenges in locations such as Panama, Mongolia and Namibia, which is called the Bucket List series. These challenges operate in a similar vein to the UK events, only they are bigger, wilder and further afield. They are adventures in every sense of the word.
