If you’ve ever dreamt of seeing lions prowling across the savannah, camping under the stars of the African sky, and gliding across a river delta in a traditional dugout canoe, then you’re not alone – it has to be on everyone’s bucket list, right?
But where do you even start organising such a trip?
Just thinking about the planning required for a trip that involves flying to South Africa, driving into the bush, visiting a rhino sanctuary, contacting local canoe guides, sourcing tents and camping gear to sleep outside, going on safari in Botswana, and driving across the country to visit Victoria Falls makes my head hurt.
Most of all, is it even possible to do all that with just a two week holiday?
Well, I’ve discovered it is thanks to KE Adventure’s Botswana Wildside Camping Safari adventure tour.
If you want to see the greatest sights that southern Africa has to offer but don’t know how to do it, then read on to find out how.
BOTSWANA WILDSIDE CAMPING SAFARI
Across the 15 days of KE Adventure’s Botswana Wildside Camping Safari, you’ll go on safari in some of Africa’s most magical game reserves, experience the beauty of the Okovango Delta up-close in a dug-out canoe, camp under the stars and wake up to the sunrise, and experience the thundering majesty of Victoria Falls.
Beginning in the Khama Rhino Sanctuary, home to endangered black and white rhinos, you’ll then travel to the Okavango Delta where you’ll be treated to a ride on a traditional canoe to your campsite, before having the chance to spot elephant, hippo, and giraffe as you cruise through the lush waterways.
Afterwards, you’ve got the opportunity to explore the local handicrafts in Ngamiland or take a helicopter flight over the Delta, before travelling to the Moremi Game Reserve, where you may be lucky enough to see lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, buffalo, and rhino up close.
The grassland of the Savuti Game Reserve awaits, with its magnificent lion prides and herds of zebra. Your adventure in Botswana concludes with a visit to the stunning Chobe National Park and your last night of wild camping, before travelling into Zambia to marvel at one of the world’s greatest wonders, Victoria Falls.
There is nowhere on Earth like southern Africa, and the chance to adventure through it with KE cannot be missed.

TALES FROM THE TRIP
We spoke to Andy Watson, the Safari Product Manager at KE Adventure, to see what his favourite things about this trip are.
What was the highlight of the trip?
“We had several lion sightings at the Savuti Game Reserve, and the sheer size of the park meant that we had these incredible creatures to ourselves. We were treated to an evening sighting of a mother and her four large pre-adult cubs. They lay in the trail in front of our truck yawning and stretching, bellies empty, ready for an evening of hunting.”
How did you find wild camping with the group?
“The real joy of these trips is the way you form such quick and close bonds with your fellow campers. We shared every part and the group became stronger as a result. You help each other with making and breaking camp, sharing tips and helping to erect and dismantle each other’s tents, meal prep and dish washing.”
