Outdoor Research Deviator Hoody review

I’m quite new to Outdoor Research kit, but I loved the waterproof jacket the company supplied for our test last issue (the Clairvoyant jacket) and I love this mid-layer too.

The Deviator Hoody uses two different types of Polartec synthetic insulation. On the torso there’s Polartec Alpha, for extra warmth here while still being quick drying and breathable. And in the arms, sleeves and hood there’s Polartec Power Grid, which is comfy, stretchy and wicks away moisture.

The hood would fit nicely under a helmet or a hat; there are two large, soft handwarmer pockets (although it’s a shame these don’t have a zip), and another, this time zipped, chest pocket for valuables. The jacket also has lovely thumb loops and you can adjust the hem through a cord in the pockets.

I’m normally a fairly comfortable medium, but this comes up a bit small so do try the jacket on before you buy it. It comes in a choice of three colours: bright pink, bright green or grey with a blue trim.

Outdoor Research Deviator Hoody Verdict

The Outdoor Research Deviator Hoody is stylish and is constructed of a nice mix of fabrics.
