Check out the trailer for this incredible alpine climbing film

About the Author: Ollie Rooke

Despite growing up in suburban London, where the highest peaks I could see housed office workers, I've always found myself drawn to the outdoors. From building and sleeping in shelters in the woods as a kid, to bouldering trips in the Peak District and solo motorcycle tours in Europe, I'm happiest when I step out of my comfort zone. My next dream is to start climbing mountains and, eventually, summit a 4,000m peak in the Alps, and at WFA I'm certainly in good company to make that a reality.

There’s a new feature-length climbing documentary hitting cinemas this week, and it looks like a must-watch. From the team behind the inspiring Dawn Wall and the entertaining Valley Uprising comes The Alpinist, a look at the life of a remarkable climber.

The film focuses on Marc-André Leclerc, a Canadian multi-discipline climber who made a name for himself while free-soloing some of the world’s toughest big alpine climbs. With jaw-dropping shots of his exploits on sheer icy faces, and an exploration into the philosophy that motivated his solo approach to climbing, this is unmissable if you love outdoor adventure.
