“Trekking solo in the Himalayas, I felt humble and at one with nature. I forgot where I’d come from, who I was, and where I was going. It took away my fears and doubts and made me stronger.”
Simone Le Grand grew up skiing in the Swiss mountains and soon fell in love with snowboarding. She competed freestyle on the halfpipe for several years before taking up splitboarding – a type of snowboard that can be separated into two skis and used with climbing skins, to allow for trek-like ascents. She now specialises in backcountry Alpine sports, and still calls the mountains ‘home’. Simone is a Haglöfs athlete.
