Jeb Corliss, Grinding The Crack

Video of the week: Wingsuit flyer gets impressively close to ground

Author: Rob Slade

While it’s unlikely that many of us will be trying our hand at wingsuit flying anytime soon, it doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate videos of guys who go to stunning places to take on breathtaking flights, right?

This week’s video depicts Jeb Corliss (nerves as hard as nails) in his attempt to ‘grind the crack’ in Walenstadt, Switzerland. In the video, Jeb, a BASE jumper, skydiver and wingsuit flyer from America, jumps off of a cliff and flies within 1.5m of the tip of a gorge while travelling at 120mph.

He has previously jumped from sites including the Eiffel Tower, Seattle’s Space Needle and the Petronas Towers in Malaysia but this is surely one of his crowning achievements. Watch the video below and leave a comment to let us know what you thought!

In 2012 Jeb saw widespread news coverage after attempting a jump from South Africa’s Table Mountain, only to clip a rocky outcrop at 120mph before deploying his parachute and crash landing. He broke both of his legs in the process but after making a full recovery, he’s back to doing what he does best.

If you found that interesting, be sure to check out last week’s video of Evan Garcia kayaking down a 70ft waterfall.
